I just got back home as well. Probably one of the smallest MM shows I have attended. I got Howard Twilley, Jim Dunaway, Jerry West, John Havlicek, Dr. J, Pete Rose, David Robinson, and I did the Vip package and got a free Rod Carew. All the players were in a good mood.
A few issues I encountered. 1) Seemed like the silver paint
Pens were either really old or brand new. Most of the game balls I got done came out a little faint. I don't do much basketball but lesson learned - bring my own deco. 2) 3-4 times I was next in line and somebody from the back would walk up behind the handler and slide the signer a few items to sign. Seems odd they wouldnt all just get their stuff signed in back. Just slowed things down in my opinion. Some guy walked to the side of Pete Rose and handed him a helmet and Rose signed it. I think he was just a normal customer and got away with a free graph. It is funny if he got away with it. 3). No inscriptions for George Foster? Seriously? I got 2 free tix for the guy and was trying to come up with something for him to sign. Planned on getting 2 balls done, however, got up to the table and found out no inscriptions. He was the only VIP not doing inscriptions. I even asked if I could buy an inscription ticket and they werent selling them. Oh well, hope i can recoup the cost of the one ball i had done. 4). I agree number calling was a mess, however, with the small crowd it really wasnt much of an issue.
I think the 1972 Dolphins reunion had to fail miserably. It looked like a handful of the common guys only signed 5 autos or less. No super ticket was a costly mistake.
Finally, not sure what was up but there was probably 6-8 cancellations.
Hoping for a better line-up in March.
